Changelog
What’s new in SyncMyCopy
Every release, in plain language, from cross-browser bookmark sync to a full web-highlighting and reading library.
Latest release: v2.1.0 · 25 July 2026
Free sync, and your swipe file on paper ๐
Bookmark sync is now free for everyone, plus clips, PDF export, a scratchpad and per-highlight tags, so more of the tool works for you whether you pay or not.
New
- ๐๏ธ Clips (Swipe file), drag any region out of a page (a CTA, a hero, a pricing table) and it lands in a new Swipe file tab, tagged and linked back to the page it came from.
- ๐ฏ Go to highlight, jump straight from the Library to the exact spot on the page where you made a highlight.
- ๐ Export to PDF, turn a page's or a whole project's highlights into a clean PDF digest, grouped by colour label, tag or page, with your notes and tags included and each highlight in its own colour. All from your browser; nothing leaves your device.
- ๐จ๏ธ Save any page as PDF, right-click and save the exact page as a PDF with your highlights included, using your browser's own Save as PDF.
- ๐งท Scratchpad, a sticky-notes tab for quick capture of hooks and ideas, synced through your own Drive.
- ๐ท๏ธ Tags on individual highlights, not just whole pages, so you can organise and export by the tags you put on single lines.
- ๐ธ Snapshots now show your highlights, open a saved snapshot and your highlights appear in it, in colour, with their notes and tags. Toggle them off for clean reading.
- ๐ Highlights in Reader mode, the distraction-free reader now shows your highlights in it too, in colour, with a toggle to hide them.
- ๐ข Word count on every highlight, shown as you highlight and in the Library, handy when you write to a length.
- ๐ฅ Import from other tools, bring your bookmarks in from Pocket or any browser (HTML), and your highlights in from Readwise, Raindrop, Instapaper (CSV), Glasp or Matter (Markdown). The file is read right in your browser, nothing you already have is duplicated, and your existing highlights and notes are never touched.
Improved
- ๐ Bookmark sync is now free for everyone. Automatic, real-time, cross-browser bookmark sync no longer needs a subscription, it is free on every plan. Premium now covers the research library instead.
- ๐ฑ๏ธ Choose how the highlight menu appears, automatically the moment you select text, or only when you right-click your selection.
- ๐ธ New pricing: $3.14/month or $31.40/year (yes, ฯ), with two months free on annual. The subscription is for the research library, highlights, snapshots, clips, projects and AI, all synced across your browsers. Bookmark sync stays free.
Sharper snapshots, safer sync ๐ ๏ธ
A reliability-focused follow-up to the V2 launch, better article capture, cleaner links, and gentler bookmark syncing.
New
- ๐ธ A dedicated Snapshots tab in the Library lists every article you’ve saved, including pages you snapshotted but never highlighted, with read, add-to-project and delete right there.
- โฉ๏ธ Tracking-parameter cleanup is now “remove, but let me undo”, links are cleaned instantly with a quiet on-page Undo (no pop-ups, no notifications). Choose how long Undo stays: 10 seconds to 5 minutes.
- ๐ Quick links between the Library, Snapshots and Settings, including from Reader mode and the snapshot view, so you’re always one click away.
Improved
- ๐ฐ Snapshots & Reader now use Mozilla’s Readability engine (behind Firefox Reader View), they reliably capture the real article instead of occasionally grabbing cookie banners, sidebars or menus.
- ๐ฅ Pinned snapshots embed their images, so they’re genuinely readable offline.
- ๐งน Much broader tracking-parameter cleanup, whole families (utm_*, hubs_*, hsa_*, Matomo/Piwik, Vero, Branch, Google Analytics share links) plus dozens of click IDs and email/marketing trackers, while functional parameters (search queries, page numbers, item/video IDs) are deliberately kept so links never break. A new “What gets removed” explainer in Settings spells it out.
- โ Saving a snapshot shows an on-page confirmation, and snapshot cards use clear Read / Add to project / Delete buttons.
- ๐ Trimmed permissions, the extension no longer requests notification access.
Fixed
- ๐ Bookmark sync now updates only what changed instead of rebuilding your whole bookmark tree on every sync, faster and far safer for large collections.
- Fixed a crash some Brave users hit when bookmarking with automatic tracking-cleanup enabled.
- Snapshot capture can no longer get stuck on a slow-loading image, and transient Google Drive hiccups are handled quietly instead of surfacing as errors.
Highlight, research, remember ๐๏ธ
SyncMyCopy grows from bookmark sync into a complete read-it, mark-it, find-it research tool, and it all syncs across your browsers, privately in your own Google Drive.
New
- ๐๏ธ Highlight any text on any page in six colors, highlights restore automatically when you come back.
- ๐ท๏ธ The color picker now shows your own labels (Important, Quote, Question…) right where you highlight, so you never map a thought to the wrong color.
- ๐ Multi-note highlights, attach several individually timestamped notes to a single highlight, plus a page-level note and tags.
- ๐๏ธ A Library dashboard to browse, search and edit everything in one place, switch between card and list views, with All / Starred / Archived filters.
- ๐ฌ Research Projects, group highlights, snapshots and bookmarks into a workspace, and add a page to a project right from the highlight menu.
- ๐๏ธ Filter the Library and any project by one or more colors and tags at once.
- ๐ค AI summaries & Q&A on your highlights, bring your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Perplexity key. Calls go straight from your browser to your provider.
- ๐ Two-mode search, fast keyword search by default, or AI semantic search that finds highlights by meaning.
- ๐ธ Page snapshots, save a clean copy of an article to your Drive (readable even if the page changes) and pin it for offline reading.
- ๐ A distraction-free reader mode for any page.
- โญ Star a page as a quick temporary bookmark (no highlight required), then archive starred pages you’re done with.
- ๐งน Optional tracking-parameter removal (utm_*, fbclid, and friends) when you bookmark, Ask, Auto, or Off.
- ๐ Interactive Bookmarks tab, favicons, folder counts, and rename / delete / open right from the Library.
- โ๏ธ A Settings page for your default color, custom color labels, note behavior, AI key and more, synced across browsers.
Improved
- โก Real-time highlight sync, any change, even starring a page, reaches your other browsers within seconds, just like bookmarks.
- ๐ Edits made while a sync is already running are never lost, they’re queued and flushed automatically.
- ๐ A wider, cleaner popup with named navigation, a focused “This page” panel, and collapsible Recent bookmarks & highlights.
- ๐ธ Simpler, lower pricing, $2.99/month or $29.99/year (two months free).
Fixed
- Highlights and snapshots now ignore tracking junk in the URL, so the same article isn’t duplicated across utm_* variants.
- Notes appended to a highlight keep their line breaks, and survive later edits.
- Empty pages no longer linger in the Library: deleting a page’s last highlight removes it, unless it’s starred or archived.
- Highlights, tags and notes, and deletions, now reconcile correctly across browsers (newest change wins).
Stability & polish
A post-launch tune-up focused on rock-solid sign-in and sync.
Improved
- Hardened Google sign-in against dropped Drive permissions on the consent screen.
- Seamless, indefinite sync, you stay signed in and synced until you choose to sign out.
- General reliability and UI refinements throughout.
