Documents, Deep search, Stats, and on-page annotations ๐
Store PDFs and images straight in your own Drive, search the full text of your snapshots, see one number for everything you’ve saved, and give a highlight its own visible note right on the page.
New
- ๐ Documents tab: upload PDFs and images directly to your own Drive (drag-and-drop or paste), view them from the Library, or add an uploaded image straight to a Clip.
- ๐ Deep search: match against the full text of your saved snapshots, not just their titles, in Keyword or AI mode. Keyword + Deep search needs no AI key or premium plan, it’s plain local text matching.
- ๐ Stats tab: one number for everything you’ve saved, a live Google Drive storage figure, a trend chart, and a breakdown by type.
- ๐ค Export your whole library as a portable JSON file, from Settings.
- ๐ท๏ธ Annotations: give a highlight a short note that shows right on the page as a colored badge, in Pill, Box, Outlined, or Mono style. Kept deliberately separate from a highlight’s private notes.
- ๐ผ๏ธ Right-click any image on a page to save it directly as a Clip, choosing a project to file it under at the same time.
- ๐ A Project picker in the popup, so a page can be filed into a project without opening the Library.
- โ๏ธ Tag suggestions: typing a tag on a highlight now autocompletes from tags you’ve already used.
Improved
- ๐ Sticky notes: typing
1.,*, or-at the start of a line now turns it into a real list, the same shortcut Google Docs and Notion use. Links now show a preview of the URL before you leave the page, and can be removed cleanly without losing the surrounding text. - Tag chips with a longer name no longer wrap awkwardly inside their own pill.
Fixed
- A highlight (and its annotation) could silently fail to reappear after refreshing the page, most often when it sat close to another already-annotated highlight. The extension now also notices and repairs a highlight that a page’s own script wipes out after the fact, which showed up specifically on some sites in Brave.
- A Drive read that expired mid-request (401) could silently drop that file’s data instead of retrying, and a genuine Drive-side hiccup (a 5xx response) was being surfaced as a hard error instead of the same quiet retry every other transient blip already gets.
- Numbered lists in sticky notes could overflow past the edge of the note card.
- Deleting a highlight with an annotation now says so in the confirmation, instead of only mentioning the highlight.
Faster library, safer checkout ๐
The Library opens instantly again instead of waiting on a Drive sync to finish first, plus some quiet trust-and-safety hardening around sign-in and billing.

- โก The Library now opens immediately from what’s already saved locally instead of waiting on a Drive sync first; anything newer from another browser still arrives moments later on its own.
- ๐ Hardened checkout so a subscription can only ever activate for the Google account that actually started it.

Fixed
- Undoing a tracking-parameter cleanup on a bookmark now validates the restored link the same way every other bookmark write already does.
Dark mode, project AI, and free sync for everyone ๐
Highlights, notes, tags and Scratchpad now sync across every browser on the Free plan too, not just bookmarks, and sign-out is now strict about never wiping something that hasn’t safely reached your Drive first. Alongside that: dark mode, project-level AI, and a proper welcome tour for anyone installing SyncMyCopy for the first time.
New
- โ๏ธ Free-tier sync: highlights, notes, tags and Scratchpad now sync in real time across every browser you sign into, on the Free plan, same as bookmarks already did.
- ๐ Sign-in is now required to use SyncMyCopy at all, on any plan, since everything you create now belongs to your Drive from the moment you make it. The popup’s Actions menu, the Library, and in-page highlighting all stay locked until you sign in.
- ๐งฏ Strict, sync-verified sign-out: signing out now finishes syncing everything first, silently, and only disconnects once nothing local is at risk. If it can’t (offline, a full Drive, an expired connection), it tells you exactly why instead of risking your data.
- ๐ Downgrade-safe by design: cancelling Premium or letting a trial lapse only blocks creating new Snapshots, Clips, Projects and AI use. Everything you already saved stays fully readable, searchable and manageable, forever.
- ๐ค Project-level AI: summarize a whole project or ask it a question, right from the Projects tab, using the highlights, notes and titles across every page in it.
- ๐๏ธ Add or remove a highlight’s page from a project directly from the colour-selection menu when editing an existing highlight, no trip to the Library required.
- ๐ “Open Library” is now in the right-click context menu, and at the bottom of the highlight edit menu, one click to your full library from wherever you are.
- ๐ Dark mode for the popup and Library. Toggle it from either one; the choice stays in sync across both.
- ๐๏ธ The highlight edit menu (opened by clicking an existing highlight) is now draggable by its own grip handle too, same as the selection toolbar, and its six colours are tucked into a “Highlight colours” dropdown instead of always taking up space.
- ๐ A short welcome tour now opens automatically the first time you install SyncMyCopy: a two-minute walkthrough of highlighting, snapshots, projects, search and sync.
Improved
- โณ A fresh sign-in now always pulls your whole library down from Drive before the Library shows anything, with a “Please wait, your library is being prepared” message, instead of a chance of briefly showing an empty or stale view.
- ๐ง Adding, testing or using an AI key now requires an active Premium or trial plan, matching every other AI feature (previously the key fields worked for anyone).
- ๐พ A full Google Drive is now detected and surfaced in the popup and Library, instead of syncs silently failing with no explanation.
- The popup’s menu button is now a labelled “Actions” dropdown instead of a bare hamburger icon, reordered to Library, Settings, Save Snapshot, Reader mode, Help, About.
Fixed
- Signing into a different Google account on a shared browser could briefly show, or mix in, the previous account’s library. A detected account switch now clears local data before pulling the new account’s, every time.
- The Projects tab’s AI section could render with no card styling in some cases (a stray border, no background); it now always matches the rest of the tab.
Snapshots that look real, and a home for everything ๐๏ธ
Full-page snapshots that capture a page as it actually looks, a new Stats tab that totals up everything you’ve saved, and Projects that now hold clips and their own sticky notes, not just highlights.

- ๐ธ Full-page snapshots: capture a page exactly as it looks, real layout, colours and images, not just the extracted article text. Works on pages Reader-mode snapshots can’t (landing pages, pricing pages, dashboards). Choose your default in Settings → Snapshot style, or force either style on demand from the right-click menu.
- ๐ A Read mode button in the snapshot reader pulls a clean, distraction-free article out of a full-page snapshot on demand.
- ๐ A new Stats tab in the Library: a running total of everything you’ve saved, broken down by colour, tag and domain, plus a saved-over-time trend chart across highlights, bookmarks, snapshots, clips, projects and Scratchpad notes. Computed entirely on your device.
- ๐ Bookmark notes: jot down why you saved a link, right from its row in the Bookmarks tab. Searchable, same as everything else.
- ๐๏ธ Project notes: every project now has its own sticky notes, same colours and card style as Scratchpad, just scoped to that project.
- ๐๏ธ Clips can now be added to projects after the fact, not just at the moment you capture them, and moved between projects any time.
- ๐ค Export your entire library as a single JSON file from Settings, highlights, notes, tags, projects and Scratchpad, a portable backup you can script an import from.
- ๐๏ธ The on-page highlight toolbar is now movable, drag it by its grip handle out of the way of what you’re reading, plus a close button.
- Two new right-click options: Reader mode and Save snapshot (using your default snapshot style), alongside the existing Save-as-PDF and full-page snapshot actions.
Improved
- ๐๏ธ A project’s Highlights, Snapshots, Clips and Bookmarks sections are now collapsible, collapsed by default so a long highlights list doesn’t bury everything else, with an Expand all / Collapse all shortcut. Open or close any section on its own any time.
- The snapshot reader’s Export PDF now prints whatever you’re looking at (the page as captured, with or without highlights shown), instead of requiring highlights to exist, useful for a clean copy to print and take notes on by hand.
- The Snapshots tab’s per-row actions (Read, Export PDF, Add to project, Delete) are now one tidy “Actions” menu instead of a row of separate buttons.
- Settings no longer links to Snapshots in its top nav (still one click away via the Library).
- Popup buttons resized to a more standard width instead of stretching edge to edge.
Fixed
- The “Add to project” popover (from a bookmark, highlight or snapshot) could appear pinned to the top-left corner of the page instead of next to the item you clicked; it now opens in the right place every time.
- A full-page snapshot that captured a page with its own embedded custom font now renders that font correctly instead of silently falling back to a default one.
Sync you can trust, wherever it lands ๐
A reliability pass on cross-browser sync, a more useful Projects view, a colour language that now matches between highlights and Scratchpad, and a full Help & Documentation page.

Fixed
- ๐ Scratchpad and Settings sync could silently lose a genuinely newer edit if your two browsers’ clocks disagreed; comparisons now use Google Drive’s own server timestamp instead of each device’s local clock.
- The periodic sync fallback used to quietly skip Clips and Scratchpad, so if the real-time signal was ever missed, those two had no safety net. It now covers every data type, same as the real-time path.
- Saving a Clip into a project didn’t actually register it there, so the project always showed 0 items for it; fixed.
- Bookmark reordering across browsers now moves only what actually changed position, converging faster and more predictably on large folders.
- ๐ฑ๏ธ The on-page highlight menu’s Add to project dropdown would flicker and lose your pick the moment you clicked into it, an unrelated listener was quietly rebuilding the whole menu underneath you; fixed.
- ๐ Highlighting, editing a highlight, adding to a project, clipping or snapshotting on a tab left open across an extension update used to fail with no explanation. These now clearly prompt a reload, and right-clicking such a tab shows a direct “reload this page” option in place of the (temporarily non-functional) menu items.
Free sync, and your swipe file on paper ๐
Bookmark sync is now free for everyone, plus clips, PDF export, a scratchpad and per-highlight tags, so more of the tool works for you whether you pay or not.

- ๐๏ธ Clips (Swipe file), drag any region out of a page (a CTA, a hero, a pricing table) and it lands in a new Swipe file tab, tagged and linked back to the page it came from.
- ๐ฏ Go to highlight, jump straight from the Library to the exact spot on the page where you made a highlight.
- ๐ Export to PDF, turn a page's or a whole project's highlights into a clean PDF digest, grouped by colour label, tag or page, with your notes and tags included and each highlight in its own colour. All from your browser; nothing leaves your device.

- ๐ข Word count on every highlight, shown as you highlight and in the Library, handy when you write to a length.
- ๐ฅ Import from other tools, bring your bookmarks in from Pocket or any browser (HTML), and your highlights in from Readwise, Raindrop, Instapaper (CSV), Glasp or Matter (Markdown). The file is read right in your browser, nothing you already have is duplicated, and your existing highlights and notes are never touched.

A reliability-focused follow-up to the V2 launch, better article capture, cleaner links, and gentler bookmark syncing.

- ๐ธ A dedicated Snapshots tab in the Library lists every article you’ve saved, including pages you snapshotted but never highlighted, with read, add-to-project and delete right there.
- โฉ๏ธ Tracking-parameter cleanup is now “remove, but let me undo”, links are cleaned instantly with a quiet on-page Undo (no pop-ups, no notifications). Choose how long Undo stays: 10 seconds to 5 minutes.

Fixed
- Highlights and snapshots now ignore tracking junk in the URL, so the same article isn’t duplicated across utm_* variants.
- Notes appended to a highlight keep their line breaks, and survive later edits.
- Empty pages no longer linger in the Library: deleting a page’s last highlight removes it, unless it’s starred or archived.
- Highlights, tags and notes, and deletions, now reconcile correctly across browsers (newest change wins).
